POLISHED
Polishing silver and brass with my dad today, I couldn’t help but think of the gospel.
This small coin bank, dull, tarnished, and worn, with time, care, and a little elbow grease, was refined and made new.
That is my story too.
I did not shine myself.
I did not fix what was warped.
God, in His mercy, put His hands to my life
and did the work through His Son.
“It is not our hold of Christ that saves us,
but His hold of us.” Charles Spurgeon
Lord willing, one day this will sit in my child’s room.
When time dulls it again and it warps with use, I will take it in my hands,
show them the same work I used to make it new, and explain the gospel to them.
Such a simple way to share a living hope.
Salvation is not earned or achieved,
but graciously given,
and God is faithful to refine
those He calls His own.
Soli Deo Gloria.
